Simon Oxby, Berry's Jewellers
Simon Oxby
Head of Operations
Berry's Jewellers

I have been married for 30 years and I have three children, including twin girls who will be 22 this year! I have been in the Jewellery trade for 41 years, starting when I left Grammar school at the age of 16 at a small local Jewellers called Morris H Castle in Halifax. I then joined H Samuel in 1987 as a trainee manager in Keighley, in the heydays of Gerald Ratner and left a couple of years after opening their Whiterose Leeds store in 1998. I then moved to Mappin & Webb Manchester for a couple of years and opened their Leeds store versus Berry’s in 1998 – no contest! I joined Berry’s in 2003 and have never looked back. I have progressed within this family business through to become Head of Operations, a job I love. I enjoy how Simon and Jeffrey run their business and feel a valued and important part of the business. I am proud to be asked to be a judge on the UKJ Awards panel and look forward to deciding on the 2023 winners.
