Sustainability

Sustainability is one of our core values. We provide panel discussions on sustainable practices, and use recyclable signage as well as favour eco-friendly suppliers

Sustainability is a key topic for Retail Jeweller, and we recognise the profound impact the jewellery industry has on our planet. Our commitment to keep our readers informed on adopting  more sustainable business models is fundamental: to read our latest Sustainability Issue head to our March digital edition and discover our exclusive consumer survey.

The Retail Jeweller Festival, like all events organised by emap, is on a journey to become more sustainable, and we thought we’d share with our guests just some of the efforts we’re making in response to the climate crisis. It is increasingly important in our world that we come together to network and learn from one another, but we must do so in a way which is as environmentally responsible as possible.

The programme

It is impossible to talk about the jewellery industry today without mentioning sustainability. Many of our panel discussions will tackle the challenges that modern jewellers face when trying to shape a more sustainable business.

The catering

The menu for this event has been chosen with sustainability in mind. 90% of the ingredients are sourced within 100 miles of the venue.

Suppliers and collateral

The Retail Jeweller Festival chooses its suppliers with a bias towards those partners who take sustainability seriously. Our event guide programmes and tickets are electronic instead of printed. The signage we use is from Insite Graphics which holds ISO14001 certification. Event signage is all either recyclable, reusable, or is used to provide community power when disposed of – none will go to landfill. All the ink is water-based and much of our signage is moving to carboard-based alternatives, recyclable in generic paper waste collections.

We need to work harder

This section of the website isn’t just dedicated to shouting about how great we are doing on our sustainability journey so far. We need to do better. We would love to hear from you on how you think we could improve.

Please email any suggestions to the event manager for this event, or you can take a few moments to complete the post-event survey which will be emailed to you after the show.
